The ANZTB hosted a Special Interest Group in Software Testing (SIGiST) evening last week (10th October) in Perth that delivered some new concepts to many of the attendees.
Suzanne Waldron specialises in presentations that help to develop an explicit leadership style and presented “Say What You Mean” – guiding the audience to develop better working relationships through the art of straight talk. She delivered her presentation in a very enthusiastic manner and engaged beautifully with the audience. Anyone who enjoyed her style of thinking may want to look up her first book – “A Flourishing Mind”.
Following on from Suzanne was an excellent presentation by Nick Leigh on “Testing That Matters”. Nick is the Head of Experience Design at BankWest and shared his insights into brand experience and the future of testing in his eyes. He talked about the human factors of testing and ensuring testers connect with the customer, rather than solely relying on automation, and the most overlooked usability issues that need to be overcome.
Both presenters worked with the audience to create a fun and educational evening, topped off with the opportunity to network with fellow peers.
